Strutting Stuff

Today the spirit moves me to share a few quotes and poems (a few original) that mean and have meant alot to me, that I've been reflecting on lately.

"Water flows continually into the ocean
But the ocean is never disturbed:
Desire flows into the mind of the seer
But he is never disturbed.
The seer knows peace...
He knows peace who has forgotten desire.
He lives without craving:
Free from ego, free from pride." (Bhagavaad-Gita)

ODE TO ABHYASA AND VAIRAGYAM
Love and truth, peace and bliss, when will we discover this?   Ancients come and ancients go, thankfully they leave their flow, of how to exist on this plane called earth, the heaven and stars we seek their worth.  How to accept, how to let go, practice practice would be so.  Non-attachment, earnest devotion - we scratch our heads, what a notion.  Attachment, desire, bondage, ego, ignorance, anger, lust and greed, the Sutras say 'take our heed': disciplines control thought waves of the mind, and must be practiced for a long, long time.

Awaken awaken, we're all asleep - thoughts, dreams, is this what we reap?  Memory:  true, false, imaginary, incomplete - O Lord can I take this heat?  Beneficial, harmful, yes or no?  Both, the Sutras say is so.

Let it go, let it go, let it go, let it go, oh yes, to serve and grow.  But when and how, all this humming.  Patience, patience, all is coming. (AAS, 2001)

MOTHER GOOSE
"Mother Goose is down to earth
trying to find eternal worth.
In all there is and ought to be,
there is nothing for her to see."
( Judith Jones and AAS, circa 1967)

AFTER A WHILE
"After a while you learn
The subtle difference between
Holding a hand and chaining a soul
And you learn that love doesn't mean leaning
And company doesn't always mean security.

And you begin to learn
That kisses aren't contracts
And presents aren't promises
And you begin to accept your defeats
With your head up and your eyes ahead
With the grace of a woman
Not the grief of a child,

And you learn
To build all your roads on today
Because tomorrow's ground is
Too uncertain for plans
And futures have a way
Of falling down in mid flight.

After a while you learn
That even sunshine burns if you get too much
So you plant your own garden
And decorate your own soul
Instead of waiting
For someone to bring you flowers.

And you learn that you really can endure
That you are really strong
And you really do have worth.
And you learn and you learn
With every goodbye you learn." (Veronica A. Shoffstall)

On a parting note, today my beautiful momma imparted some wisdom and advice when she said "you are much too pretty to hide yourself for very long where you are, get better and get out and strut your stuff, life is too short".

So......

"When going through hell, keep on going." - Winston  Churchill

HONK HONK!

With love,
